SALT SONG STUDIO
Lessons with Lauren Crosby

OPEN WITH SESSIONS FOR 2025

Untitled (2).png

Open to: Children & Adolescents ages 6-18.

Lauren opened Salt Song Studio in 2019. After Covid & the passing of her father in 2021, Lauren took sabbatical from teaching songwriting at Salt Song to focus on writing, traveling, and healing. Now, in 2025, she feels she is in the right head & heart space to offer songwriting sessions again at Salt Song.

After 8 years of teaching in both private, independent, and public school settings, and nearly 10 years in the music industry, Lauren has developed a modern music-lesson method that integrates music making practices with managing ones mental health. She feels it is necessary for people, especially adolescents, in today’s society to learn creative ways to express their emotions.

When a student finishes their first 8-week course, they will have the tools to sing, song write, and play basic guitar on their own. Building confidence, overcoming social pressures, and expressing emotions are practices that are implemented into each lesson.

At the end of each course, there will be a live performance at an accredited mid-coast venue where students will showcase their own original songs. Participation is not required if a student wishes to not perform.

Students Need:
An acoustic guitar. See Lauren if this is an issue.

Frequently asked questions:

Can I pick and choose the courses I want to take al la carte style and pay for only the lesson?

No. Each student is expected to complete the 8 lesson course.

How many people are in the lessons?

It is up to each individual student to decide if they would do better with a small group, or one-on-one. Each student is unique and Lauren will cater to his/or her needs. Lauren feels small groups work best (2-3 students) for this type of learning. Friends are encouraged to sign up and work together!

Where are the lessons located?

72 Front Street

Lessons can also happen on Zoom

Do students need to have prior experience with singing, songwriting, and guitar playing?

Nope! All levels are welcomed!

What if a student already knows how to sing, song write, and play guitar?

Great! We will hone in on skills and talk more in depth about the reality of the music business: how to book shows in your area, how to book tours, how to build a fanbase, how to market your music, etc.

If a student finishes the 8 weeks lesson block and wants to sign up for another one, can they?

Of course! If the student wants to continue with another block, that is great! We will write more music, practice more songs, and have more opportunities for performances.

What do students need to bring to each lesson?

An acoustic guitar, their lyric notebook (provided by Lauren) a pencil, and a positive attitude!

What towns/cities do students come from?

Mid-coast, southern + central Maine
